Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans (PEEPs)

The 2017 Grenfell Fire tragedy has led to many changes in legislation regarding building safety, including the Fire Safety Act 2021, amendments to the Fire Safety Order, and the Building Safety Bill. A critical area of this is ensuring that Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans (PEEPs) are in place.

The aim is that PEEPs help provide a tailored approach for residents who may have difficulty self-evacuating in the event of a fire. There are varying reasons why residents may need to consider such a plan, including (but not limited to); people with mobility impairments (or in a wheelchair), people with cognitive impairments, and people with visual or hearing impairments. We recognise that some of these may not wish to have or may decide that they do not need to have a PEEP.  It is your responsibility to inform us if anyone residing in your flat requires assistance when evacuating the building and to ensure that the PEEP is completed and provided to us where necessary. This includes properties that are rented.

{Below or see link to} is the PEEP form for completion if needed. Please note that you only need to complete this if someone residing in the property requires assistance when evacuating the building.

Please return the completed form to us and we will then keep a record of this in our files. We will also note this on the fire safety plan held on-site so that, in the event of a fire/emergency, the Fire and Rescue Services have sight of it and can easily see if any flats require extra assistance during an evacuation. Therefore, this information must be accurate and updated. Please be assured that we will not give any personal information, just the flat number, a note to say, ‘requires assistance’ with a brief reason of why assistance would be needed.
